FAMILY OF FACTS

Last week we learnt about family of facts using + and - this week we are investigating how Family of Facts applies to division and multiplication. 

If you know one fact you actually know four. 

For example if you know 2 x 4 = 8,then you also know... 

4 x 2 = 8 

8 divided by 4 = 2 

and 8 divided by 2 = 4

Here you can see Julius showing 10 x 2 = 20 and 20 divided by 10. While Lorenz is showing 2 x 10 = 20 and 20 divided by 2 = 10.

Week 3 Swimming Sports

During Week 3 we held our Pohutukawa Swimming Sports. It was a great day all students were well behaved, gave it their all and demonstrated great sportsmanship. After all the hard work of the races was over we enjoyed some great fun free time in the pool together. It was a fabulous day! Thanks to all the whanau who were able to join us and show support for our fabulous tamariki.

Cook Island Language Week

We were so blessed to to have Whaea Ine and Mama Te visit Room 17 during Cook Island Language week and share with us their culture, language, stories and they even taught us a beautiful song.

Duffy Theatre

We were so lucky to have the Duffy Theatre visit us at Rangikura. We were entertained by a talented  an entertaining crew who told the story of Duffy's mission back in time. Duffy went to change the course of history so that his friend's father would survive WWII and return to the family farm. This enabled his daughter to attend school and learn to read, instead of being required to stay home to help her mother run the farm.

Literacy- Language features

Just a few excellent examples of some of the great language features evident in our writing in Room 17 this week. 

Well done for picking this up so quickly Room 17!

You're welcome on in to the classroom to read your child's writing in full. It was great to see how the students extended themselves to include a wide rage of language features throughout their writing this week. I loved reading them all!

Literacy-Language features.

In Week 1 we have been learning to make our writing more interesting by using language features to add interest for our reader and richness to our descriptions.

We Are Learning To: Use language features including alliteration, onomatopoeia, metaphor and simile in our writing.
